ProSphere Named 2018 Military Friendly ® Employer

Posted by Corporate Communications on 11/30/2017

As I printed the long application (190 pages to be exact), I thought to myself - How is ProSphere, a small Veteran-owned business, ever going to be able to answer all of the questions in this survey? The Military Friendly designation seemed destined for a larger company with resources...and a PR team. Several months later and with the help of my dream team, the results were in.

We did it! On November 21, 2017, ProSphere was named a 2018 Military Friendly ® Employer. And in the Top 10 at that.

Believe me, we were warned - you don't normally get in the first time around, one person said.  If you don't answer every question you might get disqualified, another person commented. But we worked diligently on digging for those answers that we knew we had but never had time to compile.

This designation is a recognition of the efforts that ProSphere has made towards its National Guard & Reserve workforce. Even as a small business, ProSphere offers benefits that are usually seen in companies of a larger size. Things like differential pay and job security. In fact, we are currently holding a job for someone who is still on deployment after a year. For us this is just business as usual but as for stacking up against other companies, this makes us stand out in the crowd.

ProSphere's culture is one that is military friendly by default. We are an SDVOSB. Twenty percent of our workforce are Veterans. We have signed the Employer Support of Guard & Reserve (ESGR). However this designation will provide a framework for us to share our successes and receive support as part of the Military Friendly brand. The process to become designated is not an easy one - it requires extensive documentation and research. The survey asks about pay, job security, long term benefits, internal programming, and workforce statistics. The information is then provided to Ernst & Young for evaluation and the outcome is left to the data. That was the intimidating part. While they were aware of our Veteran Service Organization (VSO) support and our internal commitment to creating a Veteran Employee Resource Group (ERG), the proof was in the details. The people. The care. The effort we were making to keep our employees that fight for our freedom safe and secure.

Congratulations to ProSphere for being a company who cares. I’m personally looking forward to seeing our name in the Military Times/G.I. Jobs magazine in December and to what this means for us in the future.
