The U.S. Census Bureau is the primary source of statistics about the population and economy of the Nation. These statistics assist Congress, the executive branch of the Federal Government, state and local governments, the public, and the private sector in the development and evaluation of social and economic activities. Therefore, reliable collection, preparation, tabulation and dissemination of demographic and economic statistics are vital to the Census Bureau’s overall mission and strategic goals and objectives. The CAPI infrastructure supports the Census’ ability to conduct surveys and related field data collection projects by providing mobile personal computer kits for enumerators, field representatives, and other U.S. Census Bureau field personnel
